Khartoum – The Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Commission (DDRC) has said that as soon as it finalizes its private business it will immediately begin demobilizing the armed groups which joined the process in Darfur recently.
According to the DDRC, the groups would be integrated into several agricultural, commercial and services projects.
DDRC Commissioner, Gen. Salah Abdallah, at a meeting with the Chairman of the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA), Dr. Al-Tijani Al-Sisi, discussed the national plan to control light arms in Darfur.
The two sides have also agreed on the importance of coordination between DRA, DDRC and state governments with regard to DDR activities.
Meanwhile, Gen. Abdallah in statement after the meeting said he sensed the resolve of DRA Chair to provide strong support to the national plan for controlling light arms.
