Khartoum – Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Ibrahim Mahmoud praised the role played Sudan Armed Force (SAF) in preserving food security throughout Sudan, stressing sustainable peace and settlement nation-wide as the right approach to keep food security.
Meeting with Defense State Minister Gen. Yahya Mohamed Khair in the presence of Popular Defense Coordinator Abdullah Al-Jeili, Mahmoud asserted his ministry’s commitment to support development projects carried out by SAF across the country.
In his part, Khair confirmed SAF readiness to avail peace in Sudan, depicting settlement as a key factor for achieving development.
Mahmoud announced that his ministry has already prepared funds and production inputs to implement the government’s plan centered on cultivating 850, 000 acres of wheat.
Further, Mahmoud stated that he met with agriculture undersecretary and agriculture state minister in addition to representatives from Gezira Project Administration on Wednesday to review the development for wheat cultivation.
Agriculture undersecretary Baha Addin Khamis asserted the distribution of agricultural engineers between the different units of the Gezira Project is underway.
